Ok, so this isn't the healthiest recipe, but dang it is good and fun to make. What makes me think a recipe is good is when my family, men especially tell me that it's amazing and that I should make it again. This is one of those recipes.
Here is a list of ingredients and the amounts.
1 1/2 cups of cooked diced or shredded chicken breast (can use rotisserie)
1 cup of diced fried ham
1 cup of crisp bacon for the sauce
1 cup of crumbled cooked bacon for the top
1 diced roma tomato for the top or mix in the sauce
5 or 6 stalks of cooked asparagus for the top (optional)
1 cup of grated parmesan cheese
1 cup of chicken broth
1 cup of whipping cream
1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons of flour
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1 tsp cracked black pepper
red pepper flakes to taste
Fry bacon until crispy, drain on paper towel and set aside. Brown ham in pan, sprinkle with a tablespoon of brown sugar, toss until sugar has caramelized. Chop or shred chicken breast, chop tomato, and chop cooked asparagus (if you don't like asparagus you can use broccoli or any other veggie you like).
Over medium heat, melt 2 T butter. Add 2 Tablespoons flour, seasonings, sugar and whisk together with the butter until bubbly. Continue whisking and slowly add the milk, cream and the broth. Whisk constantly so that you don't get any lumps. Keep whisking until the sauce has thickened. Turn heat to low and add the grated cheddar and parmesan cheese. Once melted and mixed thoroughly, turn your heat to the lowest temp. Add part of the crisp bacon, ham and chicken pieces to the sauce (red pepper if you wish). Mix well and simmer covered, over low heat. Prepare your pasta to your liking.
You can plate the pasta and serve the sauce over the top, and crumble bacon on top of sauce along with asparagus, tomatoes and additional parm. Delish!!
This actually does warm up nicely the next day.
